About wine

The Kobler winery in Margreid shows how you can grow a winery with a lot of patience, a lot of hard work and the necessary consistency. The step towards making their own wine that the Koblers took in 2006 was a logical one. It is Erich Kobler who laid the foundation for the Kobler winery in Margreid in the 1950s. In 1958 he bought his first vineyard, half of which was planted with Chardonnay vines. In 1972 a second location was added, which Kobler planted with Pinot Gris, Merlot and Carmenère, and in 1993 a third (Merlot). In the 2000s, the range of grape varieties was expanded, with Cabernet Franc and Gewürztraminer being added. A decisive step for the Kobler winery in Margreid followed in the mid-2000s. With the 2006 harvest, he began processing some of his own grapes. The grapes from two hectares of the farm’s own vineyards are grown on the farm. They produce an average of 15,000 bottles of DOC wines per year.

Vinification

Fermentation and storage on the fine yeast in steel barrels, no malolactic fermentation, no tartar stabilization.

Tasting notes

The typical banana aroma is very evident, supported by pineapple and green apple. In the mouth, freshness prevails due to the right acidity. A savory vein of great length follows. Serving temperature 10 – 12°C.

Food pairing

Fish first courses, white meat main courses, cheeses especially if slightly matured.
