The Tenuta Viglione winery has its origins in the ancient farming and wine-growing traditions of the Zullo family, which, driven by a desire to enhance the enormous wine-growing potential of the area between the municipalities of Gioia del Colle and Santeramo in Colle, has been producing quality wines in these areas for decades. Puglia is the heel of the Boot. It is a land projected into the Mediterranean, a bridge to the East. Every year it is among the top regions in Italy for the production of wine grapes. The Murge is a sub-region defined by a karst plateau in the centre of Puglia. The hilly terrain, with an altitude between 300 and 500 metres, is clayey-calcareous and rich in minerals. The discovery of numerous marine fossils testifies to its ancient origins. The microclimate is mild, with temperature fluctuations even around 20 \u00b0C in the period before the grape harvest. These characteristics make it an ideal habitat for vines.<\/h5>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Winemaking<\/h3>\n

Dark brown clay and limestone. Exposure to the South West, altitude 480 m. Year planted: 1948. Small bush tree vine training. 4,000 vines per hectare, yield of 3,200 kg per hectare. Harvest in the first ten days of September, manual harvesting. Alcoholic fermentation in steel. Ageing for 2 years in large barrels and 4 months in barriques.<\/p>\n

Tasting notes<\/h3>\n

Organic wine with a deep ruby colour with hints of blackberry, undergrowth and Mediterranean scrub. A wine with a powerful flavour and great character with long fruity and liquorice notes.Recommended serving temperature: 18\u00b0 \u2014 20\u00b0C<\/em><\/p>\n

Food pairing<\/h3>\n
