Quinta da Devesa carries a remarkable and enduring history. In 1844, the renowned Baron Forrester marked this estate on the very first map of the demarcated Douro region. However, the most significant chapter of its history began in the last century, in 1941, when the Fortunato family acquired the property, initiating a new era of substantial investment in wine production, with a particular focus on Port wines. Later, references to DOC Douro wines also emerged, further strengthening the estate\u2019s presence in both the national and international wine markets.
Today, Quinta da Devesa remains an independent family\u2011owned estate, forward\u2011looking and represented across several international markets. Investments made in recent years have led to increased recognition among wine enthusiasts and specialized critics. All of this is reflected in the numerous national and international awards the estate has earned to date. <\/h5>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Winemaking<\/h3>\n

The grapes from our Quinta are hand\u2011harvested into small containers and taken to the lagares to be traditionally foot\u2011trodden.
Fermentation lasted around 3 to 5 days, producing a wine with excellent extraction.
Aged for 5 years in old barrels before bottling, it was bottled in 2025. <\/p>\n

The 2020 LBV is a traditional, unfiltered LBV, with no hot or cold treatment, preserving the full natural potential of the fruit. It is ready to drink now, but it will age beautifully in the cellar, gaining further complexity. <\/p>\n

Quinta da Devesa vineyards are managed using sustainable agricultural practices, following the Integrated Production guidelines, certified by an independent organization recognized by the Portuguese State.<\/p>\n

Tasting notes<\/h3>\n

Deep, rich ruby colour, dense and opaque. Intense aromas of ripe dark fruits, cocoa and chocolate.
On the palate it is dense, full\u2011bodied and harmonious, with flavours of dark fruits, prune and chocolate. Balanced by ripe tannins, leading to a luscious, sweet and long finish. <\/p>\n

Serving<\/h3>\n

Decant and serve at 14\u201316 \u00b0C. Once opened, it keeps its tasting qualities for 2\u20134 weeks. <\/p>\n
