Château L’Abbaye de Giraudon is a dry red wine from the Lussac‑Saint‑Émilion appellation, located in the prestigious Libournais region of Bordeaux. Made predominantly from Merlot, sometimes complemented by Cabernet Franc or Cabernet Sauvignon. The Libournais region, and especially the Lussac‑Saint‑Émilion area, benefits from a temperate oceanic climate that is perfectly suited to viticulture. The soils are composed of clay, sand, and gravel, allowing Merlot to fully express its roundness, fruitiness, and density. The history of the vineyard dates back to the Middle Ages, when abbeys around Saint‑Émilion were already cultivating vines, giving this terroir a long‑standing tradition and recognised prestige.

Winemaking

The wine is crafted with great care, vinified in tanks and then aged in oak barrels, bringing structure, elegance, and a subtle woody touch.

Tasting notes

The wine displays a deep purple colour and a nose marked by ripe black fruits — plum, blackberry — enhanced by spicy and lightly toasted notes. On the palate, it offers a remarkable balance between the roundness of the fruit, the finesse of the tannins, and a pleasant freshness.

Food pairings

To accompany this Lussac‑Saint‑Émilion, choose traditional Bordeaux dishes such as roasted duck breast, entrecôte à la bordelaise, veal chop with chanterelles, or duck confit. It also pairs beautifully with a selection of aged cheeses or a gratin dauphinois.
For optimal enjoyment, serve this wine between 16 and 18°C after about one hour of decanting, allowing it to fully reveal its aromatic complexity and depth.
