Château Roquefort has been owned by the Bellanger family since 1976, and over the years they have revived the estate, restored its historic architecture, and developed a diverse vineyard rooted in natural biodiversity. Today the property spans 240 hectares, where Frédéric and Anne Bellanger continue the family legacy, focusing on terroir respect, high‑quality winemaking, and preserving a heritage that stretches back more than 6000 years.
About the Wine
Les Roches Blanches 2024 is an organic Sauvignon Blanc from Castelviel, the highest point of the Gironde. The vines grow on clay‑limestone soils rich in fossilised oyster layers, giving the wine its distinctive minerality and vibrant freshness. The style reflects Château Roquefort’s commitment to purity and precision. The wine has earned notable recognition, including a Silver Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2025 and 95/100 from both Falstaff and Decanter.
Winemaking
The grapes are organically grown, with vines averaging 20 years of age. After harvest, the fruit is protected with inert gases, followed by a short skin maceration and low‑temperature fermentation to preserve delicate Sauvignon Blanc aromatics. Ageing takes place in temperature‑controlled stainless‑steel tanks, ensuring a clean, crisp profile. Annual production reaches 120,000 bottles.
Tasting notes
The wine opens with lively freshness and a classic Sauvignon Blanc nose: white flowers, citrus notes and subtle herbal hints. The palate is marked by the minerality of limestone terroirs, offering a bright, balanced and elegant finish. The Telegraph describes it as “refreshing like sea spray, with elderflower, lemon balm, jasmine and white peach.”
Food pairings
Les Roches Blanches pairs beautifully with sushi and sashimi, as well as refined dishes like royal sea bream ceviche. A vegetarian option — tuna poke bowl with passion fruit sauce — highlights the wine’s freshness and fruit character. Recommended serving temperature: 8–10°C.
