Owner and winemaker of his family’s Châteauneuf du Pape estate since 2006, ‘Guillaume Gonnet, Vigneron’, was created by Guillaume and his Australian wife Kelly. Guillaume and Kelly have always been fascinated by the notion of “terroir”, most notably about how the Southern Rhône varieties express themselves in diverse terroir. Guillaume Gonnet wines are the realisation of their dream to explore the potential of Southern Rhône grape varieties in varing terroir in the South of France, and around the world.

Winemaking

Round pebbles on the surface, clay underneath, 2500 vines/ha. Grapes are hand picked. Vinification in stainless steel tanks. 100% stems removed. Fermentation of 12 days, natural yeast. Malolactic fermentation. Aging in stainless steel tanks too.

Tasting notes

Lichi, peach, citrus and white floral notes, the mouth is fresh and crispy, a slight saltiness lingers on the palate. The grapes are picked early on in the harvest to ensure nice, bright acidity

Pairing recommendation

This wine is wonderful with seafood, freshly shucked oysters served with lemon and lime wedges, pan seared scallops served with a mango and chilli salsa, garlic prawn linguini, or Boston’s famous Lobster Hamburgers. This wine also marries well with fresh goats cheese.
