Cognac Grande Champagne AOC |
Since its founding in 1767 by Louis Coutanseaux, Coutanseaux Aîné has embodied French excellence, evolving from a cooper’s workshop into a renowned cognac house dedicated to the terroir of Grande Champagne. Passed down through visionary generations — from Louis and his son Joachim to the Taittinger family — the house earned international prestige, including the title of official supplier to the Swedish royal court. 2014. Its legacy resurfaced in 2014 with the record sale of an exceptionally rare 1767 bottle, and in 2015 the Frerejean Taittinger family revived the brand with an extraordinary Hors d’Âge cuvée, continuing a tradition of craftsmanship dating back to 1767. .
Coutanseaux Aîné draws its identity from the exceptional terroir of Grande Champagne, the Premier Cru of Cognac, where Ugni Blanc thrives and yields wines ideal for long aging. In the cellars, distillation on lees in traditional copper stills reveals the deepest aromatic potential, requiring nine liters of wine to produce one liter of cognac. After a precise double distillation, the eaux‑de‑vie mature for no less than 15 years, beginning in new oak before moving to older barrels. Aged in humid, partially buried cellars, these cognacs develop a perfect balance of finesse, complexity, and expressive character.
La Belle Jeanne is a five‑liter bespoke decanter of exceptional quality, distinguished by its voluptuous curves and presented in a luxurious leather‑lined hat‑box‑style case inspired by Haute Couture. It is the only decanter in the collection that adorned with precious gold detailing, a hand‑applied golden cord and a signature ferrule bearing the Coutanseaux seal. Created as a tribute to Jeanne Coutanseaux, a key figure in the family’s history, it embodies the spirit of French luxury through refined craftsmanship and rare materials. Its elegant monochrome case, enhanced with golden accents, completes the experience, while proper care and ideal storage conditions help preserve its brilliance. Owners may also extend the life of their decanter through a privileged refill service, continuing the story of their Belle Jeanne.
Jeanne XO displays a deep amber robe with golden reflections shaped by long years in oak. The nose is lively, refined and elegant, combining floral notes of vine blossom and white flowers with a well‑defined woodiness that, with aeration, releases spicy, vanilla, toasted and roasted aromas. On the palate, a crisp and vibrant opening gives way to perfect balance, silky tannins and a powerful structure that leans more floral than fruity. Vanilla rises again, joined by soft hints of apricot, pastry butter and caramel.
If a few drops happen to form on the cord or the presentation box, simply wiping them gently with a microfiber cloth will be enough to preserve their timeless shine. Next, make sure to store your decanter under ideal conditions. Kept away from humidity, direct sunlight and temperature fluctuations, in a dry environment below 20°C, it will continue to maintain all the richness and subtlety of its aromas. Finally, extend the experience with your Belle Jeanne by contacting us to benefit from an exclusive offer allowing you to refill your precious cognac decanter. A wonderful opportunity to continue the story of your carafe in a sustainable way.
