In the heart of the Roero region, in Vezza d’Alba, the Demarie Giovanni family have been managing their estate for more than three generations with hard work and a real passion for viticulture. The winery has over 20 hectares of vineyards in the districts of Vezza, Castagnito, Castellinaldo and Guarene. The company’s choice to produce wine exclusively from grapes grown on its own vineyards guarantees the authenticity of the product. Demarie is also focused on the sustainability of its wines: by 2020. In 2007, their first wine was awarded BIO product certification.
Winemaking
The Nebbiolo grape, from which this noble Barbaresco is made, is grown in the vineyards of the small Langhe parcel, which includes the municipalities of Barbaresco, Treiso, Neive and San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, north-east of Alba. In the Piedmont wine region, there is a 650 hectare DOCG zone where Nebbiolo grapes are harvested to produce Barbaresco wines. This wine is aged in oak barrels for 24 months.
Tasting notes
Color: Garnet red with ruby highlights, which over the years tend toward orange hues.
Aroma: A complex and ethereal bouquet with exceptional harmony and completeness. The fresh fruit of the early months evolves into a universe of spices. Violet, dog rose, geranium, apple, and cherry are joined by notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and green pepper.
Taste: Dry, caressing, with gentle robustness. It reveals continuous texture, breed, character, and extraordinary aristocratic elegance.
Food pairing
Red meats, cured meats, warm appetizers, and cheeses. Serving Temperature: 18–20 °C. Best to Drink: Within 20 years after harvest.
