Domaine d’Orfeuilles is a historic estate founded in 1947 on the former grounds of a medieval château. Today, Bernard and Arnaud Herivault manage the 23‑hectare vineyard, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern precision. Their Chenin Blanc vines grow on south‑facing slopes of clay, limestone, and flinty soils—ideal conditions for producing expressive Vouvray wines. Committed to organic and biodynamic farming, the estate focuses on preserving soil vitality and crafting wines that showcase purity, elegance, and the authentic character of the terroir.

Winemaking

The Vouvray Demi‑Sec comes from old vines planted on the southeast‑facing slope of the “Les Coudraies” vineyard. The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, sometimes even at the beginning of over‑ripening. A gentle 3‑hour pressing precedes settling. The must, showing 13–14% potential alcohol, is transferred into oak barrels for a fully spontaneous fermentation with temperature control. The goal is to achieve a harmonious balance between alcohol, acidity, and residual sugar. The wine is bottled in September after a single racking and fine tangential filtration.

Tasting notes

A deep yellow color with silvery reflections. The nose is both floral and fruity. The palate begins with a soft, lightly sweet texture, quickly balanced by lively acidity that brings the wine back toward a semi‑dry impression. Aromatic notes echo the nose, and the finish is distinctly fruity.

Serving temperature: 8–10°C. Aging potential: 10 years or more when stored under proper conditions.
