Bodega Mastinell is a winery dedicated to crafting long‑aged cavas and organic wines, blending innovation with deep respect for the winemaking heritage of Penedès. Founded in 1980 in a privileged setting sheltered by the Sant Pau mountain, it has grown from a small family project into one of the ten most prestigious cava producers in Penedès, holding the distinguished Elaborador Integral certification, which ensures that every stage of cava production takes place entirely on the estate. Its philosophy centers on love for the land, organic viticulture, hand harvesting, and meticulous selection, working with emblematic local varieties such as Xarel·lo, Macabeo, Parellada, Trepat, Malvasía de Sitges and Sumoll, alongside Chardonnay. With cutting‑edge technology, strict quality control and long ageing —Reserva and Gran Reserva— Mastinell has earned numerous international awards and a presence in top restaurants worldwide.
Winemaking
Brut Nature is crafted from Macabeo and Xarel·lo planted in Olérdola more than 50 years ago, along with Parellada from Sant Martí Sarroca. The original bush‑trained vines continue to inspire to seek the perfect moment of ripeness, ensuring excellence every year. Each variety is vinified separately, and in January the winery rigorously determine the ideal blend. After long ageing, Mastinell chose to offer two versions, with Brut Nature being the wildest and most direct expression of the terroir.
Tasting notes
Deep, bright golden colour with pronounced tears. Aromas of ripe fruit, especially apple, citrus notes, hints of nuts and touches of toasted bread. On the palate it is structured, with lively acidity, a broad and dry entry. Long finish with saline notes, nuts and a mineral touch.
Food pairing
Rice dishes, cannelloni, oily fish, grilled seafood, legumes, cured meats and aged cheeses.
