Grand Bateau is the result of a close collaboration between Maison Barrière and Château Beychevelle. The boat on the label is reminiscent of the mythical drakkar of the prestigious Château Beychevelle, a sister company of Maison Barrière. Produced by their oenologist from the best batches selected from their partner estates, Grand Bateau embodies the nobility of great Bordeaux. Philippe Blanc, Director of Château Beychevelle, gives them his precious support for the final blend of Grand Bateau. Rich, concentrated and muscular, it offers a good tannic base and a very present woodiness. Its assertive style appeals to lovers of fine wines.
Winemaking
Secret de Grand Bateau is vinified using a combination of traditional know-how and modern techniques. The wine is aged in 100% oak barrels, 70% of which are new, for 6 to 8 months, giving it power and aroma.
Tasting notes
Generous and full-bodied, this Bordeaux seduces with its solid structure and its rich, deliciously smoky bouquet, which blends notes of black berries and the scent of a cigar box.
Pairing recommendation
Ideal with a grilled duck breast, a roasted lamb chop, a piece of game, a cheese with character. Can also be enjoyed as an aperitif!
