The Anne de Joyeuse cooperative is named after a well-known 16th-century figure, the Duke of Joyeuse, who was bestowed the lordship of Limoux by Henry III.

About the wine

In Limoux, the world’s first sparkling wine was created by Benedictine monks in 1531. Blanquette de Limoux, made primarily from the Mauzac grape, carries on this centuries-old tradition with its unique freshness and fine effervescence.

Vineyards

Sunny hillsides of Villelongue, Ajac, Pauligne, Limoux, Saint-Polycarpe, and Pieusse (altitude: 200-300m). Oceanic and Mediterranean influences with clay-limestone soils, ideal for the Mauzac grape.

Winemaking

Manual harvest. Whole grape pressurization followed by cold settling overnight. First fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks to preserve freshness. Traditional method with a second fermentation in bottle and aging on lees for a minimum of 9 months at 14-16°C.

Tasting notes

Light golden robe with fine and persistent bubbles. Expressive nose with fruity aromas of ripe grapes and delicate floral notes. Lively and elegant on the palate, with fresh fruit flavors and subtle toasted nuances leading to a long, refined finish.

Food pairing

Perfect as an aperitif, with cheese tart, seafood platters, mini canapés, or mussels and fries. Serve well chilled at 7–8°C.
