Grape variety:
100% Barbera

Ca’ de Lion was founded in 1871 by Luigi Ghione, who was inspired by his farthest ancestor, Leone Ghione (1655), from whom the winery took its name. From then, five generations are gone and the winery takes care of its history, affairs and evolutions of technique. Last 50 years are the consolidations of company development and awareness: Ca’ de Lion produces and vinifies all its wines with last technologies about bottling and product processing. But it’s Tradition the key word for this company reality: respect for territory grapes, respect for traditional wine making practices, respect for their roots and for the time’s lessons.

Winemaking

This Barbera Superiore was born from the desire to enhance a small part of Monferrato particularly suited to the cultivation of this black grape variety; a rural area of 18 neighboring municipalities, including Nizza Monferrato, which has become an expression of a strong identity that indissolubly binds the man and the vineyard.

Crushing and destemming of the grapes, fermentation on the grapes marcs for about 10/12 days. Aging for 18 months in barrique following bottling.
