Located in the heart of Burgundy’s Golden Triangle (Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault), Chartron et Trébuchet is today recognised for the very high quality of its white wines, including 5 Grands Crus, and is remembered by connoisseurs as the creator of the greatest Puligny-Montrachet wines, the symbols of the house.
Winemaking
Winemaking is precise and focused, allowing the natural varietal purity of Chardonnay and the stony Chablis terroir to shine through with minimal oak influence. The wines are also aged in a traditional manner, avoiding any unnecessary filtration that could alter their flavour. The soils are hillside and limestone‑rich. Traditional winemaking. The grapes are pressed upon arrival at the cellar using pneumatic presses. Fermentation takes place at 16 °C in temperature‑controlled stainless‑steel tanks. Ageing on lees lasts 9 months. Yield: 60 hl/ha.
Tasting notes
Clear pale‑gold colour. The nose is both floral and mineral. The palate mirrors the nose with fresh notes of citrus, chalk and green tea. The finish is precise and crystalline.
Recommended serving temperature: 10–12 °C
Food pairings
Perfect with spicy oysters or fish in sauce, as well as white meat in sauce (veal, poultry). Its minerality makes it an excellent match for sushi. Also pairs beautifully with goat cheese, blue cheese and Comté.
