Château Grand Mazerolles is located in the Blaye – Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, in the commune of Berson on the right bank of the Gironde. The estate is known for its consistent quality and expressive Merlot‑based wines. The vineyard covers around 15 hectares, with an average vine age of about 25 years. The wines regularly receive strong ratings and are appreciated for their fruit‑forward and well‑balanced style.
The producer is Vignobles Luc Schweitzer, a multi‑generation family‑run wine group operating across several Bordeaux appellations. They combine modern winemaking techniques with traditional Bordeaux craftsmanship and are recognized for their reliable quality and contemporary approach. Their wines frequently participate in international competitions and receive high critical acclaim.
Winemaking
The vinification of Château Grand Mazerolles 2022 follows traditional Bordeaux techniques designed to highlight freshness and fruit purity. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 26–28°C, followed by a 3–4‑week maceration to extract color and achieve soft, balanced tannins. During fermentation, both pigeage (cap punching) and remontage (pump‑overs) are performed to ensure even extraction. The wine is aged in stainless‑steel tanks with minimal racking, preserving the natural fruit‑driven character of Merlot.
Tasting notes
The wine shows ripe black‑fruit aromas with hints of chocolate and tobacco spice, offering a balanced, fruit‑forward palate with soft tannins. Critics describe it as generous, harmonious, and promising for further ageing
Food pairings
It pairs well with red meats, stews, poultry, and semi‑hard cheeses.
