This cognac house was founded by Pierre de Segonzac. Pierre came from a traditional bouilleur de cru (cognac maker who distils only his own harvest) family who settled in Segonzac, in the heart of the Grande Champagne growing region of Cognac (Cognac 1st Cru) from 1702. onwards. Pierre’s portrait is quite appropriately used as the company logo, but today Pierre’s grandson Pablo Ferrand runs the family vineyards at La Nérolle in Segonzac. The family still distils its own wine, ageing it with the same care and tradition as in the old days. Christian, Pablo’s father, is responsible for customer service and distribution – worldwide. Pierre would have been very proud to see the revival of his treasured brand and how it works today.
Cognac Ancestrale Grande Champagne 1er Cru
Distillation: On fine lees (18 and 25 hl pot stills). Ageing: Limousin oak casks (400–500 liters)
Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep mahogany. Aromas: Walnut and candied fruit.
A blend of eaux‑de‑vie distilled by André and Abel, father and grandfather of Pierre. An exceptional cognac of rare aromatic complexity, where wood and rancio intertwine with remarkable harmony. Aromas of walnut, cocoa, spices and candied fruit, old port, leather and cigar box. An extremely long finish that requires time to fully appreciate its subtleties.
Numbered bottles, limited to 300 per year.
Suggestions
It will boldly accompany the finest cigars from Havana or the Dominican Republic, creating an unforgettable harmony of flavours.
