About wine
The De Feudis wines are a testimonial of the very old Pugliese origins of the Fabiano family. Towards the end of the 1880s Sergio De Feudis had a daughter called Antonietta De Feudis who was born in Trani. She married Francesco Fabiano, founder of the Fabiano winery, which began in southern Italy and later transferred to the Veneto region. The De Feudis wines come from a collaboration between Fabiano, who has been making wine for over a hundred years, and Varvaglione, an esteemed friend and renowned grape grower from Puglia; they started a long history of combining typical regional grapes with years of wine-making experience.
Tasting notes
Primitivo grapes are harvested from old vineyards located near the Ionian sea, cultivated “ad alberello” with a very low top yield per hectare. The colour is ruby red with very nice violet hints. The fragrance is very intense and reminiscent of fruit jam and blackcurrant, cherry and mulberry, cocoa and liquorice. A round, smooth taste with fruity notes and an aromatic aftertaste. Best served at a temperature of 18-20°C and open a couple of hours before serving.
Food pairing
Primitivo di Manduria DOC “Ottocento” a food-flexible wine, but pairs well with roast red meats, grills, pasta with game sauce, well-structured soups and game, mature cheeses.
