This top producer has been making sparkling wines in the “methode traditionelle” in Burgundy since 1920, at its winery in Charnay-Les-Macon. It was one of the very first houses in the Mâconnais to produce Cremant de Bourgogne, thanks to its years of experience and in-depth understanding of the vinification of the Chardonnay grapes grown on the estate. Today, the company is part of the Boisset “Famille des Grands Vins” group and its sparkling wines are now made at the winery in Nuits St. Georges.
Winemaking
Owned by Boisset, family company ranked amongst the largest five wine producers in France, this harmoniously balanced Pinot Noir Chardonnay wine with fine bubbles is showing persistent mousse and a wonderful length in the mouth. It is fresh and powerful with aromas of yellow fruits. The 36 month ageing on lees, well beyond the minimum requirement, adds further complexity and makes this a wonderfully affordable Champagne alternative.
Food pairing
Drink it as chilled aperitif or with liqueur such as crème de cassis or on its own.
