“Character” is the password of Bruno Fina and his family. Fina’s wines are the result of a land that is loved and fought for, they have the taste of the passion and of that grapes that have been wisely turned into wine, thanks to the dedication of the work in the vineyard. They have the familiar warmth and the experience of who has always done wine and has always know how to narrate it. This is how you transmit the hereditary character of the territory and the harmony of the men that search for excellence on a daily basis.

About the wine

Vitrarolo is a relic vine from Sicily. It is a survivor recaptured thanks to the project to recover ancient autochthonous clones, which populated the island before the phylloxera and which were (almost) lost: except in a few remote parts of Sicily. The Region of Sicily has analysed some 7000 samples since the early 2000s, and thanks to the virtuous collaboration of companies and research centres, 75 vines have been planted and micro-vinificated. This is where the friendship between Sergio Fina and Francesco Pulizzi came into the picture, who became passionate about the project and in 2019 created the first vineyard of Vitrarolo – an onomatopoeic word that recalls the sound of its twisted shoot, similar to shattering glass. The first tastings and vinifications follow, and the Fina and Pulizzi families’ awareness grows that they are in front of a unique grape variety and wine (already confirmed by DNA), on which it is worth investing.

Tasting notes

Cantine Fina Vitrarolo Rosso is a red wine that expresses the character and typicality of the Sicilian terroir. With an intense ruby red colour, it offers a rich bouquet of ripe red fruits, spices and delicate wood notes. On the palate, it is structured and well balanced, with soft tannins and a pleasant persistence. The fruit and spice nuances blend harmoniously, making it ideal for pairing with meat dishes, mature cheeses and traditional recipes.
