Les Hauts de Lynch‑Moussas, the second wine of Château Lynch‑Moussas, classified as a Grand Cru Classé in 1855, was created in 2001 by Philippe Castéja, who succeeded his father Émile. The name comes from the vineyards located on the heights above the estate. For this wine, grapes are mainly selected from the youngest vines on the sorting table, yet the winemaking is carried out with the same care and the same high standards as for the “Premier Vin”.
Winemaking
Deep gravel soils. Fermentation and maceration last 3 to 4 weeks. The wine is aged in oak barrels, part of which are new, for 24 months.
Tasting notes
The nose is pleasantly fruity, with notes of exotic wood and cigars. On the palate, the wine is fruity and slightly saline, with soft tannins. An excellent vintage!
Food pairings
Ideal with red meat and strong cheeses.
