Château Picque Caillou is located at the gates of the city of Bordeaux, in the heart of the historic cradle of the Pessac Léognan appellation, neighboring the prestigious Châteaux Haut-Brion and Pape Clément. In 2006, Paulin Calvet took over the day-to-day management of the vineyard and breathed new life into it, which was quickly noticed through the quality and regularity of the wines.
Winemaking
Pyrenean gravel soil. Alcoholic fermentation and controlled maceration in stainless steel vats. Post-fermentation maceration at 30° for 10 days before running off in vats. The aging is carried out for 12 months in barrels (of which 30% are new).
Tasting notes
A concentrated ruby red colour, aromas of ripe red and black fruits, vanilla, an elegant round attack, silky tannins, with a nice complexity and minerality, relatively long finish in finesse.
Pairing recommendation
Ideal with grilled beef or beef in sauce.
