Quinta da Devesa carries a remarkable and enduring history. In 1844, the renowned Baron Forrester marked this estate on the very first map of the demarcated Douro region. However, the most significant chapter of its history began in the last century, in 1941, when the Fortunato family acquired the property, initiating a new era of substantial investment in wine production, with a particular focus on Port wines. Later, references to DOC Douro wines also emerged, further strengthening the estate’s presence in both the national and international wine markets.
Today, Quinta da Devesa remains an independent family‑owned estate, forward‑looking and represented across several international markets. Investments made in recent years have led to increased recognition among wine enthusiasts and specialized critics. All of this is reflected in the numerous national and international awards the estate has earned to date.
Winemaking
Careful selection of the best grapes, hand‑harvested.
Whole‑bunch pressing and pre‑fermentation cold maceration.
Fermentation at controlled temperature, cold settling.
Part of the wine ages in stainless steel, while another part ferments and ages for 6 months in new French oak barrels.
Minimum bottle ageing: 6 months.
The vineyards of Quinta da Devesa are managed using sustainable agricultural practices, in accordance with the Integrated Production guidelines, certified by an independent organization recognized by the Portuguese State.
Tasting notes
An elegant and structured wine made from Gouveio and Viosinho.
Clear, citrus‑yellow colour. Aromas of vanilla and light toast perfectly combined with tropical fruit and subtle floral notes.
On the palate it is smooth, enveloping, with a long and consistent finish. Serve between 10–12 °C.
Store the bottle horizontally, protected from light, at a constant and moderate temperature.
