Quinta da Devesa carries a remarkable and enduring history. 1844. In 1844, the renowned Baron Forrester marked this estate on the very first map of the demarcated Douro region. However, the most significant chapter of its history began in the last century, in 1941, when the Fortunato family acquired the property, initiating a new era of substantial investment in wine production, with a particular focus on Port wines. Later, references to DOC Douro wines also emerged, further strengthening the estate’s presence in both the national and international wine markets.
Today, Quinta da Devesa remains an independent family‑owned estate, forward‑looking and represented across several international markets. Investments made in recent years have led to increased recognition among wine enthusiasts and specialized critics. All of this is reflected in the numerous national and international awards the estate has earned to date.
Winemaking
Careful selection of the best grapes, hand‑harvested. For Rosé production, 80% of the blend undergoes direct pressing and 20% short cold maceration, resulting in a pale pink wine with exuberant aromas and flavours.
Decantation at 10°C, racking after 24–48 hours, fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperatures between 15–17°C. Light daily bâtonnage throughout fermentation. Aged for 12 months in French and American oak.
The vineyards of Quinta da Devesa are managed using sustainable dry‑farming viticulture practices, certified by an independent organisation under Integrated Production guidelines.
Tasting notes
Under the name Ineditus — “the original” — emerges this rosé aged 12 months in barrel, with unusual complexity and structure, crafted to surprise. Elegant salmon colour with subtle hints of oak ageing. The nose is enveloping, showing vanilla, sweet spices, delicate toasted notes and subtle red fruit. On the palate, freshness and balanced acidity are supported by a firm, sophisticated structure. The finish is long, persistent, marked by toasted nuances and a fresh, velvety sensation.
Recommended serving temperature: 8° — 10°C.
Winemaker: Luís Rodrigues
