Santenay – Chassagne-Montrachet Domaine Lequin‑Colin is the result of the union between René Lequin and Josette Colin, both born into families of winegrowers for several generations. On the Lequin side, the passion for the vine has been passed down from father to son since 1679! After completing a scientific baccalaureate, François Lequin intended to become an oenologist. He earned a DEUG in biology and a BTS in viticulture‑oenology in Avize‑en‑Champagne, then was accepted in Dijon and Reims to pursue an oenology degree. However, he decided that his years of study were over. As an only son, he joined his father René in July 1996, formed a partnership with him in 1999, and eventually bought his shares in 2006. Since then, he has been the sole master of the estate.
Winemaking
Planting date : 1985 Surface : 0,48 hectare Exposure : Parcel located in the commune of Chassey le Camp, on an east-facing slope with deep algal soil. 100% destemming, pre-fermentation cold maceration (10°C) for a week, followed by 10 days of fermentation. Aged for 18 months, 100% in barrels, 10% of which are new.
Tasting notes
The red wine pinotes intensely in the glass while releasing scents of blackcurrants on the towel. The body is generous with ripe fruit (blackcurrant, plum) before releasing a firm tannin that time will quickly round out.
