Santenay – Chassagne-Montrachet Domaine Lequin‑Colin is the result of the union between René Lequin and Josette Colin, both born into families of winegrowers for several generations. On the Lequin side, the passion for the vine has been passed down from father to son since 1679! After completing a scientific baccalaureate, François Lequin intended to become an oenologist. He earned a DEUG in biology and a BTS in viticulture‑oenology in Avize‑en‑Champagne, then was accepted in Dijon and Reims to pursue an oenology degree. However, he decided that his years of study were over. As an only son, he joined his father René in July 1996, formed a partnership with him in 1999, and eventually bought his shares in 2006. Since then, he has been the sole master of the estate.
Winemaking
Planting date: 1973, 1985 Surface area: 0.59 hectare Exposure: Parcels located in In the village, on a predominantly chalky clay terroir. Method of vinification and ageing: 100% de-stemming, pre-fermentation cold maceration (10°C) for one week followed by a 16-day fermentation. Aged 18 months, 100% in barrels, 20% of which are new.
Tasting notes
The crimson colour of its juice is so bold that it looks like it’s come out of a tube of gouache. The nose is expressive: violets of the undergrowth and forest after the rain. At the same time, its structure is firm and smooth. Its soft tannic patina makes it a wine that will appeal to many palates today.
