In 1996, Nicholas Hammeken, who already had experience in marketing and selling wine in various European countries, opened his own business. At first, the company was just selling and reselling wines from other wineries, but then, in 2001, they had their first own line of wines. The company follows the latest global trends in order to produce wine of very good quality and at a relatively inexpensive price from local Spanish grape varieties.
Winemaking
30+ year old bush vines. Yield of 25 hl/ha. Extreme continental climate with long hot summer. Harvest in September-October. Cold maceration at 5°C for 48 hours, fermentation for 12-18 days at a temperature of 24-28°C. Aged for 4 months in 100% French oak barrels.
Tasting notes
Clear dark purple colour. Intense and pronounced aromas reminiscent of bramble fruits, blueberries and black cherries with toasted oak, sweet spices and hints of roasted coffee bean. One the palate it is dry, full bodied with firm but ripe tannins and a long finish.
