The story of Masseria Jorche began in the early 1900s, when Giovanni Gianfreda established the family’s first “palamientu” (an old, traditional winemaking room — the earliest form of an organized cellar in Apulia) laying the foundation for a winemaking tradition that endured even through the devastation of phylloxera. In the late 1950s, his grandson Cosimo built the first fully mechanized cellar, marking a turning point in the estate’s evolution. Today, the fifth generation — sisters Dalila and Emanuela — lead Jorche with passion, expanding the winery, developing the Masseria hospitality project, and creating an innovative Primitivo‑based cosmetic line. Jorche’s vineyards include 12 hectares of historic seaside plots and 6 hectares of young vines, cultivating Primitivo, Negramaro, Fiano Minutolo and Bianco d’Alessano. Harvesting remains a manual ritual, honoring ancestral traditions. Surrounded by olive trees and Mediterranean scents, the Masseria offers guests an authentic Apulian experience where history, nature and winemaking come together in perfect harmony.
About the wine
Trulli Line – Primitivo di Manduria
A wine that symbolizes the indissoluble bond between the environment, the grape variety, and human craftsmanship. The vines are all old and grow in iron‑rich soils — exceptional conditions for producing a refined, well‑structured wine with intense color, aroma, and flavor.
Harvest: Manual, in small crates
Vinification: Gentle pressing, temperature‑controlled fermentation and maceration on the skins
Wine yield: 65%
Aging: 9 months in barriques and large barrels + 3 months in bottle
Tasting notes
Visual: Intense ruby red, tending toward a deep, full tone
Nose: Ethereal, fruity (wild berry jam), spicy
Palate: Structured, balanced, with well‑integrated tannins
Food pairing
Suitable throughout a full meal of land‑based dishes; spiced red meats, complex and structured first courses.
Typical dish: Homemade orecchiette with meatball sauce and brascioli, topped with fresh cacioricotta or “ricotta forte”.
