Quinta das Arcas was founded on the early eighties by Esteves Monteiro following a deep work of restructuration of the family vineyards initiated a decade before with a strong focus on the land consolidation and the implementation of modern agriculture. After 1985 the company was set up to bottle the wines already produced, putting on the market the first Arca Nova wines. Throughout the years, the company has paid special attention to production, following since the early days a path of quality improvement and minimizing impact in nature. 2012. In 2012 and with 200 hectares of vineyards in the Vinho Verde region, Quinta das Arcas produces its first certified bio wine.

Winemaking

Hand-picked grapes from the old vineyards of Arinto, certified organic. The base wine was fermented using organic yeasts. No maceration and temperature controlled. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks. No animal products were used. The second fermentation was carried out using the classic method in the bottle with organic yeasts and no additives or use of animal products. Disgorged after 18 months’ bottle ageing. Bottled with low sulphur content and without additives.

Tasting notes

Straw yellow hue of intense shine. Very fine and persistent bubble. Subtle aroma and complex and formal fruit nuances. Vanilla and well-defined tertiary aromas from bottle aging. Fresh and voluminous mouth with good acidity. Smooth and long finish with notes of biscuit.
