Christophe Chapillon, French, married with 2 children, was born and lived in Tours, a town in the Loire Valley (France). In the 90’s he moved to Aragon, Spain. In 2006, he decided to follow the family adventure (his uncle being an oenologist in the Loire) and started his own winemaking business. With the help of Cesar Langa (owner of the oldest family estate in Aragon), he launched the ‘Chapillon’ brand. A line of modern and unique, exclusive wines, very different from those usually produced in this area. They are mainly Spanish wines, but with a discreet French influence.
About the wine
Aromatic and juicy, Chapillon Siendra is made in Aragón, Spain. It offers aromas of dried strawberry, red fruits, orange peel, black tea, crushed gravel, and pie crust.
Winemaking
Dominated by beautiful old-vine Garnacha grown in the arid climates of Aragón, southeast of Rioja, Siendra paints a vivid picture of the region with each sip. The old-vine Garnacha is grown in the stony soils of Chapillon’s Calatayud vineyard, with added backbone from Cabernet and Syrah. It has excellent acidity, fine minerality, and has been softened by 12 months of ageing in French oak.
Tasting notes
Bright magenta-violet in colour with medium depth. Aromas of ripe blackberry, black plum, and black cherry are balanced by fresh herbs, pepper, baking spices, balm, and aromatic sandalwood. On the palate, lively flavours of raspberry and red cranberry emerge, supported by firm tannins and a finish that evolves into fresh herbs and spicy notes. Medium-bodied, this is the perfect daily pour for fans of Rhône- and Syrah-inspired blends.
Food pairing
Pairs perfectly with pasta, veal, and poultry.
