About the wine
Brunello di Montalcino has its roots in the 19th century, when local farmers began experimenting with the vinification of a native grape variety grown in the surrounding area. This grape, known as “Brunello” or “Brunellino”, was identified as a type of Sangiovese. The delicious wine produced from this fruit can be aged for many years, greatly enhancing its richness and value.
Winemaking
Brunello di Montalcino represents the oenological expression of a territory with a long winemaking tradition. The wine undergoes a long maceration period to extract colour and aromas from the skins. After fermentation, it is aged for a minimum of 24 months in oak containers, gaining pleasant woody notes that generally make the wine rounder and more austere, followed by at least 4 months of bottle refinement. Brunello can be released for sale starting from the 1st of January in the sixth year following the harvest.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby red colour with garnet reflections; characterised by a complex and enveloping bouquet with hints of wild berries, sweet spices, and a touch of vanilla. Elegant and harmonious on the palate, with silky tannins and a long, persistent finish that reveals nuances of cocoa and tobacco.
Food pairing
Ideal with red meat dishes, game, and aged cheeses. Also perfect for moments of meditation and reflection, thanks to its structure and finesse.
