Château La Croix Meunier belongs to the 5th generation of the Meunier family (owners since 1840). This micro vineyard of 3 hectares is located in the north-west of Saint-Emilion, next to the Châteaux Figeac and Cheval Blanc.
Winemaking
Sandy and clay-limestone soil. Area of the vineyard is 3 ha, average age of the vineyard is 30 years. A density of 6600 vines/ha with an average yield of 45-50 hl/ha. Manual harvesting. Fermentation and vinification in small stainless steel vats. The grapes are pressed downwards to obtain maximum extraction. Vatting time is 2 to 3 weeks. Aged for 12 months in oak barrels (30% new barrels). Bottling at the Château.
Tasting notes
Very deep red colour. Nose is concentrated on notes of vanilla, chocolate and very ripe black berries. The fruity and fleshy mouth is distinguished by tasty tannins. The woodiness is harmonious and well blended.
