Bodegas Langa is currently the main winery in Calatayud and the only one with a long and uninterrupted family tradition. The winery is located in an emblematic area, considered magical throughout the human settlements that have taken place in the area. The Sierra Vicor, at the foot of which the winery is located, was a sacred place for the Celtiberians and had a prominent place in the work of the classical poet Marco Valerio Marcial.

About the wine

A unique grape variety from a singular old vineyard of 3.14 hectares gives birth to PI. The spirit of this wine is imbued with the magic and uniqueness of a magical, infinite number, present in countless cultures and essential to many mathematical calculations.
PI represents the perfection of the imperfect, the pursuit of precision and a passion for knowledge, embodied this time in a powerful wine with highly concentrated characteristics and a wide range of nuances for the most discerning palates.

Winemaking

Stony soils. Manual harvest. Alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 25°C. Indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation. 10–15 months in American, European and French oak. Approx. 6 months in bottle.

Tasting notes

Very deep cherry red colour with purplish hints. Fragrant nose of overripe black fruits. Elegant ageing aromas with notes of cocoa and tobacco. Complex and refined. Smooth, oily and very glyceric on the palate. Sweet, round and velvety tannins.
