Climate
Climatology is one of the essential elements in the making of a great Bordeaux wine. 2016 was an exceptional year with a wet winter and spring. It was one of the best summers in recent years. High temperatures and sunshine yielded concentrated grapes and good textures. The after-season was also of great quality with remarkable temperatures. The climate allowed the development of the vine and the singularity of the grape with a rapid and uniform flowering. After such a beautiful summer, the rains in mid-September were salutary before the harvest which took place in good circumstances. In short, the grapes from the Comte de Malartic-Lagravière reserve in the Pessac-Léognan appellation benefit from an exceptional climate, ideal for the production of a unique second wine.
Winemaking
The vinification took place in small temperature-controlled vats for four weeks at a temperature of between 28 and 30 degrees. The wine remained in the vats for 15 months before bottling. As a general rule, Comte de Malartic-Lagravière appellation Pessac-Léognan is made with the same care as the red grand cru classé.
