Bodegas Langa is currently the main winery in Calatayud and the only one with a long and uninterrupted family tradition. The winery is located in an emblematic area, considered magical throughout the human settlements that have taken place in the area. The Sierra Vicor, at the foot of which the winery is located, was a sacred place for the Celtiberians and had a prominent place in the work of the classical poet Marco Valerio Marcial.

About the wine

MARCO VALERIO MARCIAL is the family’s indulgence. This is the only red wine without oak barrel ageing. It is a wine born from the family’s soul, vinified in cement egg-shaped vats.

Winemaking

Stony, clay and limestone soils. Alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 25°C. Indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation takes place in ovoid tanks. 12–15 months in concrete eggs. Approximately 6 months in bottle.

Tasting notes

Mature cherry-red colour with purple hints. Intense fragrances of red flowers, wild herbs and clear notes of raspberry. This wine has a distinct sense of purity with a surprising raspberry core. Soft and elegant tannins.
