Quinta da Devesa carries a remarkable and enduring history. 1844. In 1844, the renowned Baron Forrester marked this estate on the very first map of the demarcated Douro region. However, the most significant chapter of its history began in the last century, in 1941, when the Fortunato family acquired the property, initiating a new era of substantial investment in wine production, with a particular focus on Port wines. Later, references to DOC Douro wines also emerged, further strengthening the estate’s presence in both the national and international wine markets.
Today, Quinta da Devesa remains an independent family‑owned estate, forward‑looking and represented across several international markets. Investments made in recent years have led to increased recognition among wine enthusiasts and specialized critics. All of this is reflected in the numerous national and international awards the estate has earned to date.
Winemaking
Careful selection of the best grapes, hand‑harvested. For this Rosé, a short cold maceration is used, resulting in a richer style. After destemming and crushing, the must macerates briefly with the skins, after which only the free‑run juice (mosto flor) is used.
Decantation at 10°C for 48 hours clarifies the must and enhances the aromatic expression of the varieties. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at controlled temperatures: 15–16°C for 6–10 days, finishing at 20°C.
The vineyards of Quinta da Devesa are managed using sustainable dry‑farming viticulture practices, certified by an independent organisation under Integrated Production guidelines.
Tasting notes
Pale pink colour with good aromatic intensity, showing floral notes and red fruits such as strawberry and raspberry. Slightly sweet on the palate, light, fresh and balanced. Long, delicious finish.
Recommended serving temperature: 8° — 10°C.
Winemaker: Luís Rodrigues
