Beyond everything else, the wines of this historic estate carry the imprint of the vineyard, with an emphasis on purity and transparency. François Lequin, a grower working with enviable 1er and grand cru sites in Santenay and Chassagne‑Montrachet, allows each plot to express itself as clearly as possible, favouring a “light touch” in the cellar. The estate is certified organic, and François continually seeks new ways to let the soil and the vine speak for themselves
Winemaking
A blend of three parcels in Santenay, this old‑vine Pinot Noir is exceptional in every respect. To the east of the commune lies Champs Claude, with vines over 70 years old; closer to Chassagne is Les Hates, with vines 50–55 years old; and Clos Genet, with vines 40–45 years old. François believes that Les Hates provides structure, while the other two sites contribute finesse and fruit.
The wine is fermented in neutral barriques, 20% of which are new. Ageing continues for 12 months following the same barrel programme, followed by an additional 3 months in stainless steel before bottling.
Tasting notes
A fruity palate characterized by cherry and small red berries, with a balance built on fruit expression and supple texture.Recommended serving temperature: 16–18 °C
Food pairings
This AOP Santenay red wine pairs beautifully with dishes such as pork, veal, turkey, and cheese. It is excellent with mushroom‑stuffed turkey or a veal entrecôte.
