Murua is located on a small hill near the town of Elciego, historically dedicated to the production of top quality estate wines. The vineyards are divided into 8 plots planted mainly with red grape varieties (Tempranillo, Grenache, Graciano and Mazuelo). In order to achieve the best possible expression of the different soils on the estate, particular attention is paid to factors such as soil composition and structure, as well as vine orientation and solar radiation.

Making wine

The vineyards from which VS Murua comes are between 20 and 55 years old. The soils are mainly loamy, with some calcareous clay. Plots with good clay content have been selected for this wine to ensure the freshness and fruit that will later be appreciated in this wine. Spontaneous fermentation, at a temperature of 24-27 degrees. Light pumping, “quenching” and low oxygen content in alcoholic fermentation. Soaking for 10-15 days. Aged for 16 months in French (30%) and American (70%) oak barrels.

Tasting notes

Cherry red colour, intense and bright with a pink reflection. The first impression is intense, open and very fragrant. Its nose has aromas of black fruits, jams and balsamic touches. This is an elegant wine, very pleasant and with good evolution. The attack in the mouth is explosive, powerful and balanced. The entrance is very subtle but powerful. It has good volume and excellent staying power. VS Murua is characterised by its personality and good ageing potential. It is an elegant and seductive wine that reflects the true place where it comes from (“Sierra Alavesa”).Recommended serving temperature: 14-16°C
