The Fillaboa estate, “good daughter”, has its origins in the 17th century. The name of the farm comes from a local legend with many parallels to the story of “Cinderella” by Charles Perrault, in which two daughters of a Count envied their younger sister to whom their father left the best land as an inheritance. . Fillaboa is one of the largest wine estates in Galicia, bathed in its surroundings by the Tea and Miño rivers. Next to the farm, there is a medieval bridge and a 1,600 meter stone wall that frames the farm. In Fillaboa, nature commands. In addition to an exquisite garden of camellias, olive trees, magnolias, and cork oaks, the Fillaboa vineyard is spectacular. 50 hectares of own vineyards are divided into 12 delimited plots facing south in which we find majestic vines on vines and on trellises.
Winemaking
On the slopes of the historic Fillaboa estate, in the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin in Galicia, this 100% Albariño wine is born. Its 50 hectares of cultivated vineyards, year after year, are caressed by warm breezes, with a constant gentle humidity typical of the Atlantic climate that, together with the good quality of the soil, its “terroir”, make Fillaboa the best environment for the cultivation of the albariño grape variety, giving its wines a great personality. It rests for 6 months on its own fine lees in stainless steel tanks.
Tasting notes
It is a harmonious Albariño white wine, with good structure, which impresses for its clean and bright straw yellow colour. If we stop to enjoy it calmly, we discover certain aromas of ripe fruit, notes of pineapple and apple. There are also hints of mango and citrus. The sensation at the end, enjoying this Albariño with DO Rías Baixas, is of a white wine, delicate and unctuous, with a very well-integrated and balanced acidity. Fresh, fruity and round on the palate, a delight for all the senses!
Food pairing
It goes perfectly with white and blue fish, seafood, smoked fish, sushi and foie gras.
