1996. In 2007, Nicholas Hammeken, who already had experience in marketing and selling wine in various European countries, opened his own company. At first, the company was simply selling and reselling other wineries’ wines, but then, in 2001, the company started to grow. In 1999, they created their first wine range. The company follows the latest global trends to produce wines of very high quality and relatively affordable prices from local Spanish grape varieties.
Making wine
Gratallops, La Vilella Baixa, La Vilella Alta, Torroja del Priorat vineyards. Harvesting during the first 15 days of October. Cold infusion at 5ºC for 48h, fermentation at 26-28ºC for 3 weeks. Aged 18 months in 100% new 500L oak barrels.
Tasting notes
Clear deep dark purple colour. Fresh and very intense aromas of black berries, red cherries and raspberries combined with mineral notes of stone and hints of eucalyptus in an elegant combination of toasted oak, spices, tobacco and coffee beans. The palate is dry, full-bodied, richly concentrated with juicy fruit, strong but ripe tannins and a refreshing acidity that makes this an excellent food wine that will age very well for the next 12-16 years.
