Château Moncontour is one of the oldest wine estates in the Loire Valley, dating back to the time of Saint Martin. Celebrated by Balzac as “my predilection,” the estate has been lovingly preserved by the Feray family since 1994. Today, its 130 hectares of vineyards stretch across the Vouvray, Crémant de Loire and Touraine appellations, offering a breathtaking view over the Loire Valley.

Winemaking

This “moelleux” cuvée results from very ripe grapes that enjoyed abundant sunshine and steady water supply from the soil.

Harvest at the end of the season (late October – early November).Slow pressing at low pressure. Must selection during pressing. Fermentation in stainless steel vats with temperature control (64–68 °F) for one month; fermentation is stopped to retain ~60 g/L residual sugar. Aged six months with fining and regular racking.

Tasting notes

Beautiful golden hue and aromas of dried apricot, marmalade and honey, this smooth, rounded wine.

Excellent ageing potential of at least 20 years.

Food pairing

Pairs perfectly with foie gras, blue cheeses and red‑fruit desserts.

Serve chilled.
