Viticulture tradition has been a top priority in Groß-Reipersdorf bei Pulkau since 1858. For Simone & Hannes, being a winemaker means capturing the fascination of nature, being sensitive to how the year is developing and bringing the best qualities that nature allows into the cellar. Pulkau fascinates with soils from Maissau granite to fine-grain loess soils on the foothills of the Manhartsberg. These conditions are the origin of their red wine affinity in the white wine-dominated Weinviertel, where they follow their tradition and rely on Zweigelt and St. Laurent. The future of Simone Hiller-Jordan is wine and so she took over the winery with great joy in 2010 and has been running it with enthusiasm and passion ever since.
Winemaking
Pressed from the oldest Veltliner vines at the winery, these were planted 50 years ago by Simone’s parents in “wild” marriage. This wine needs time to mature and it gets it in 600 liter oak barrels. A special kind of Veltliner, with a lot of finesse, at the same time juicy, with a creamy melt. Matured in stainless steel tanks.
