Wine runs in the veins of the Reverdy family. For four generations, the family has been inspired by the same values: a hereditary attachment to the Loire Valley, an instinctive passion for the terroirs and an innate respect for people and work. Passion, integrity and accuracy are the key words that drive the members of the estate. Today, Jean-Marie Reverdy, guided by his vocation, makes the estate prosper with his wife Catherine and his two sons, Guillaume and Baptiste. The cellars are located in the middle of the vineyards. This unique situation offers a breathtaking view of the famous Sancerre hill and its vineyards. The Centre Loire is a tourist region renowned for its wines and appreciated for its attractive landscapes.

Terroir

The vines selected for this rosé are about thirty years old and 80% of them come from the limestone terroir known locally as “Caillotes”. Benefiting from an eastern exposure, maturation is slow and progressive. The vines have been cultivated in a sustainable manner for over twenty years, and are partially thinned out in July to ensure that they remain in good health throughout the season and to obtain good ripeness. These Pinot Noir grapes are generally harvested fairly early in order to keep the freshness and vivacity that are essential for a good rosé.

Winemaking

This rosé is obtained 60% by direct pressing and 40% by bleeding the vat. The bleeding juice is drawn off after a slight maceration to obtain the desired salmon colour. After 12 to 24 hours of settling, the must is placed in a thermo-regulated stainless steel tank where fermentation takes place at a temperature of between 15 and 20°C. At the end of the fermentation, a racking is done to remove the first lees. In order to preserve freshness and liveliness, the wine is bottled during the first months of the year after the clarification and stabilisation operations.

Tasting notes

The brilliant, bright pink colour with salmon hues opens with an intense nose that combines the scent of small red fruits (strawberry, cherry, redcurrant) with spicy nuances. The palate, immediately balanced between freshness and roundness, seduces by its ample character and its persistence. The floral and fruity aromas pleasantly coat the palate in a long and airy finish.

Food pairing

The wine pairing is not trivial. A successful marriage transforms the meal into a real moment of pleasure and conviviality. Served between 10 – 12 degrees, this fine and charming Sancerre rosé is appreciated with fine charcuterie, exotic dishes and during summer meals, especially barbecues.
