1996. In 2007, Nicholas Hammeken, who already had experience in marketing and selling wine in various European countries, opened his own company. At first, the company was simply selling and reselling other wineries’ wines, but then, in 2001, the company started to grow. In 1999, they created their first wine range. The company follows the latest global trends to produce wines of very high quality and relatively affordable prices from local Spanish grape varieties.

Making wine

Gran Allegranza Monastrell is a careful selection of grapes by our winemakers, resulting in a wine with a ripe, sweet blackberry flavour. The elegant balance of dark chocolate with ripe, juicy blackberries is a treat you won’t want to miss. The climate is semi-continental, influenced to some extent by both the humid Mediterranean and the dry Spanish city centre. Late hand-harvesting in early November with 40-year-old vines at 400-700 m, yielding 15 hl/ha. Cold maceration at 5ºC for 48 hours, followed by fermentation at 24-26ºC for 12-15 days. Aged for 6 months in 100% French oak.

Tasting notes

Deep dark ruby red with violet-blue trim. Ripe blackberries in the aroma, ripe juicy dark cherries, delicate notes of wild herbs balanced by dark chocolate. On the palate, the wine is rich and juicy, with a good concentration of ripe fruit and rich dark chocolate. Soft tannins floating on the palate.
