About the Hesketh family.
«Three generations of our family have been involved in the wine industry for over sixty years, but an aversion to convention has always led us to follow ‘the path less travelled by’. In 2006 Jonathan and Trish established the Hesketh Wine Company to produce wines that reflect the family’s history. This translates to our wine being known for: Clarity: Regional typicity and clear varietal expression. Value: A level of sophistication beyond the selling prices. Quality is the overriding priority. Eat well, drink well, have fun»
Winemaking
Ebenezer Shiraz is sourced from our Barossa vineyard and is a combination of three separate parcels. Block 8 gives the wine focus and elegance due to the shallower soils in this area of the vineyard, whilst Block 3 is old vine material that provides rich, dark fruit flavours. The plushness of fruit and palate weight is provided from the fruit picked from Block 4. A full palate with lifted florals and a long, lingering finish.
Tasting notes
Matured 20 months in 50% new French oak hogsheads. Spicy black fruit depth and licorice might are Ebenezer signatures. French oak brings control and definition in its fine tannin lattice, adding dark chocolate and coffee bean to a long finish. A shiraz of considerable dimensions and warm alcohol, crafted with control and determination.
